Jake & Will: CONTEST WARRIORS

Two filmmakers chasing the dream of producing their first feature film...
...and financing it solely through winning video contests.

We have a meeting with a potential manager next week.

We are excited about said meeting. Stay tuned.

Congratulations!

Figure out what your questions are ahead of time. Ask about their other clients. How they think they can help you. What your working relationship would be like. The length of the contract, etc.

Make sure everything is golden before you sign, otherwise you're giving 10-20% of what you earn to a schmo or a schmo-ette who may not be doing anything for you.

Donovan, have you been repped/managed? Was it a positive experience overall?

Let me know if you have any questions. I have also recently entered into an artist management contract, so I know a lot of legal mumbo jumbo.

I was managed, but it was a pretty "meh" experience. My recommendation would be to agree to management only if the guy/gal has some juice. If they don't have access to better opportunities than you can secure on your own, what's the point?

If the guy also runs an "escort" service on the side, that's a plus.

Discounts!
